Seniors Begin Christian Service

Rev. A.J. Rizzo, SJ, Director of Ignatian and Senior Service Programs, delivers a homily to the class of 2019 on the importance of their service commitment.

On the morning of September 11, the Class of 2019 gathered in the Regis chapel to attend Mass and participate in the Christian Service commissioning ceremony. Starting next week, seniors will begin volunteer work at their chosen service sites. During the third trimester, all seniors will also meet on Tuesday afternoons for a series of Social Justice Seminars held in collaboration with the senior class from Dominican Academy. Focused around the central themes of Catholic Social Teaching, guest speakers will be invited to present on a series of topics which in the past have included: Housing and Gentrification in New York City; Protecting Migrants and Refugees; Working for Peace and Justice through the Arts; Preservation of the Environment; and the Criminal Justice System.
