For Second Straight Year, Regians Shave Heads to Fight Childhood Cancer

Back in March, Regis students and faculty once again participated in a St. Baldrick's Foundation head-shaving event in the Regis auditorium. This was the second straight year a St. Baldrick's Foundation event took place at Regis High School, and once again the event was spearheaded by junior Jack Aiello '16.

The St. Baldrick's Foundation is a volunteer-driven charity committed to funding the most promising research to find cures for childhood cancers and give survivors long, healthy lives. Because children with cancer often lose their hair during treatment, "shavees" for the St. Baldrick's Foundation show their support by shaving their heads voluntarily, with the hope of inspiring friends and family to donate money to support childhood cancer research.

"I'm doing this in solidarity for kids who are suffering cancer," said Aiello. "We can choose to have our hair cut off but they can't."

Regis students were able to raise $3,000 to directly to fund the most promising childhood cancer research for cures and treatments. In addition to Jack Aiello '16, special thanks is given to faculty members Ms. Miller-Lewis, Mr. Kiczek, Mr. MacDonnell, Mr. Serton, Fr. Lane and Dr. Gomez for taking the challenge.
